On November 13th, the BOC received a request from staff to consider amendments to the UDC regarding expanding the County’s current Overlay District Ordinance to include all State Highways within the County. The purpose is to create access management, landscape, and architectural standards along the County’s major corridors. This will affect all properties located within 750 feet of the road center lines. Other changes included the elimination of requirements for 1920’s architectural designs along such corridors in an effort to create more flexibility in design standards and the removal of language that prohibited to the BOC from up-zoning properties within the county even though it may have been a more appropriate use. This will allow the BOC greater flexibility in future zoning decisions. The BOC is expected to hold a second and final hearing on November 27th.
