On October 16th, the City Council discussed a complete rewrite the City’s Development Regulations. On October 2nd, City staff presented a plan to the City Council that calls for temporarily adopting the County’s Development Regulations and the Cherokee Water and Sewer Authority regulations. However, the Council decided not adopt the County’s regulations verbatim; but asked staff to use the County’s regulations as template and draft a new ordinance meeting the specific needs of the City. The first reading is planned for December 18th and adoption is expected in January. In addition, the City considering major changes to the development review process to create a more streamlined process, eliminating the number of required plan submittals and unnecessary steps in the process.
