On December 7, 2023, the Council hosted its 38th Annual Meeting & Legislative Reception with the Georgia General Assembly. Members of the Council were joined by legislators from around the region for a cocktail reception at the Cherokee Town and Country Club. In addition to ratifying and welcoming its 2024 Board of Directors, the Council presented its legislative priorities for the year to the Georgia General Assembly and local elected officials. Thank you Mayor Andre Dickens for kicking off the evening by welcoming guests to our great city of Atlanta.
Outgoing Council Chairman, Rob Ross, Vice President of Kimley-Horn, passed the gavel to 2024 Chairman, Sally Riker, Founder & CEO of Terminus Transformation Group. Riker then presented the Council’s 2024 Legislative Priorities focusing on Transportation, Water, Land Use, Environmental Regulation, Economic Development and Job Creation.
Our legislative priorities were followed by brief remarks from State Senator Frank Ginn and State Representative Shea Roberts on behalf of their legislative bodies. The Council also had the pleasure of recognizing W. Kerry Armstrong for the impact he has made on our region as Chairman of the Atlanta Regional Commission for the past 10 years.
The Council Chairs annual charity fund also used the evening as an opportunity to raise money in support of our 2023 Council Chairman Rob Ross’ ongoing humanitarian effort to help break cycles of poverty, homelessness, and addiction through the power of fitness, community support, and employment resources. Thanks to all who participated in the fundraising effort. Donate to Rob’s Back on My Feet mission here.
Thank you to our sponsors and guests for making this year’s reception one for the books. Happy Holidays to all!
