The state legislative caucus will hold elections for the Georgia Transportation Board in the 4th, 9th, 10th and 11th districts. Georgia DOT is governed by a 13-member State Transportation Board which exercises general control and supervision of the Department. According to the GDOT website, board members are elected by a majority of the Georgia General Assembly caucus from each of Georgia’s thirteen congressional districts. Each board member serves a five-year term. The election to fill all four seats will be held in the Senate Chamber on February 9th after Session convenes. Any senator or state representative in the district can nominate a new board member prior to the 9th and each candidate will have a chance to speak before the caucus vote. It is confirmed Robert Brown (4th District) and David Doss (11th District) are running for reelection. Former State Representative Jeff Lewis and former Senator John Wiles will challenge Doss in the 11th District and Emily Dunn, Chairwoman of Fannin County Board of Education, is a potential candidate for the 9th district according to the Gainesville Times. However, she cannot be reached for comment to confirm this report. Other candidates will be named prior to the election.
