The Gwinnett County Commission voted 3-2 on a resolution for county staff to solicit proposals from 3 companies interested in operating Briscoe Field. The majority of the commissioners said the process would provide the data needed to make an informed decision about the airport’s future. The process began a year and a half ago when Gwinnett officials announced the county might sell or lease the airport. Commission Chair Charlotte Nash and Commissioner John Heard cast the two dissenting votes to rule out commercial flights. The Gwinnett Board of Commissioners also created a citizen advisory panel to study the issue and make recommendations to the commission.
