On October 17th, the Atlanta Regional Commission’s Search Committee announced current Council for Quality Growth board member Douglas R. Hooker, PE, as the top finalist for the Executive Director position. Since 2005, Mr. Hooker has been the Vice President and Southern States Director for Atkins. He has previously held the positions of Executive Director for the Georgia State Road and Tollway Authority and Commissioner of Public Works in the City of Atlanta. Mr. Hooker is a graduate of Leadership Atlanta, Leadership Georgia and the Regional Leadership Institute. He is the co-founder, board member and former chairman of the Civic League for Regional Atlanta. He also serves on the board of the Metro Atlanta Chamber and the Emory University Board of Visitors. He holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering and Masters of Science, Technology and Science Policy from Georgia Tech along with a Master’s of Business Administration from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School. The Search Committee is required to release the name of the finalist 14 days prior to the final approval by a majority of the 39-member ARC Board.
