The State of Georgia is preparing to put the I-75/I-575 toll lane project out to bid in June. This project would create toll lanes similar to the I-85 toll lanes from the Perimeter to Hickory Grove Road on I-75 and to Sixes Road on I-575. The total cost of this project is close to $1 billion funded by gas taxes collected in Georgia as well as the toll fees for use of the lanes. The state plans to use a unique “design-build-finance” model in which designers and builders work together as a team and will help arrange or provide initial financing. The state expects the team to provide 10 to 20 percent of the project cost in the beginning of the project as a loan to be paid back by the state.
