Governor Deal signed House Bill 396 on May 11th. The legislation authorizes residents to vote for the incorporation of Peachtree Corners. If residents vote for incorporation, Peachtree Corners would have a mayor and six city council members. It would have the power to levy a property tax of up to 1 mill and provide limited services including code enforcement, garbage collection and planning and zoning. Peachtree Corners has 34,000 residents and if incorporated would be Gwinnett County’s 16th city. The referendum will be November 8th. You can read the entire bill here.
