This week President Joe Biden convened five government leaders from across the nation to discuss bipartisan support of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). Liz Hausmann, Fulton County District 1 Commissioners, was in attendance to voice her support for the proposed $1 trillion funding for roads and transportation improvements. Commissioner Hausmann, also serving as the Chairman of the Transportation Steering Committee for the National Association of Counties (NACo), outlined how the passage of the record setting funding would benefit counties across the US and allow for greatly needed transit, road, and bridge investment within the growing Atlanta Metro. Touting the benefits of the legislation, Commissioner Hausmann conveyed how federal funding supports established and outgoing coordination and planning at the state, region, and county levels.
“For Fulton County and Metro Atlanta, this means that many of our transit expansion projects will now be eligible to receive this expanded federal funding…[and] provides connectivity, jobs, and sustainability for the growth we know is coming.”
