On August 31, Georgia Power filed a recommendation to move forward with the construction of the Plant Vogtle Unit 3 and 4 nuclear expansion. This expansion will be a key asset to provide the energy needs of Georgia for the next 60-80 years and help Georgia Power keep energy costs competitive.
Georgia Power added that this project will not only help Georgia Power deliver carbon-free, safe, reliable, and affordable energy to the region, but also “create nearly 800 new nuclear careers once operational”.
Vogtle Unit 3 and 4 are expected to be completed in November 2021 and 2022 respectively.
