Gwinnett Roundtable Recap
January 23rd, 2024
Speakers: Mayor Mike Mason, City of Peachtree Corners

On Tuesday, January 23rd, 2024, Mayor Mike Mason of Peachtree Corners provided an update to our Gwinnett Advisory Roundtable. Thank you Mayor Mason for your time, Jackson EMC for sponsoring, and Anderson, Tate, & Carr for hosting the event.

Mayor Mason outlined a compelling vision for the city’s future, with a focus on mixed-use development, housing options, recreation, public safety, and cutting-edge technology initiatives.

Anticipating future growth, the city launched the Redevelopment Authority to focus on projects like Peachtree Corners Cir. Catalyst, Jimmy Carter Blvd. shopping center, and Mechanicsville Housing. Mixed-use developments like the Forum Refresh project were also highlighted by the Mayor. The addition of retail, green space, a hotel, and entertainment areas will add energy to the community, while new housing options at Innovation Lofts and 2 Sun Court will add housing options. A new “Tot Lot” and a playground in the Town Center are also set to debut in Spring 2024. The largest of recreational enhancements, said the Mayor, is a 2.4-mile trail called the Corners Connector Trail System that connects Peachtree Corners to Sandy Springs. Despite a $4.3 million price tag, significant funding is expected from federal and state sources, along with a $300,000 boost from an ARC grant.

Peachtree Corners takes pride in its innovation. Its Curiosity Lab at Peachtree Corners features a 5 km autonomous vehicle test track, a smart city street, a mobility test vehicle, and an innovation center that supports corporate innovation and early-stage startup incubation. “Positioned as the #SiliconOrchard, Peachtree Corners attracts businesses like ASHRAE, Brightree, and Intuitive Surgical, fostering the development and implementation of groundbreaking technologies,” according to Mayor Mason. And looking ahead, a Mobility Hub is planned in Technology Park that will provide a whole host of technological transportation and delivery solutions.
