The Georgia chapter of the Sierra Club formally announced its opposition to the July 31st Regional Transportation Referendum vote. The Sierra Club cited the Referendum’s focus on roadway expansion and improvement as their primary concern, suggesting instead that the Referendum should be focusing on transit. Chapter Director Colleen Kiernan added, “This project list is primarily a business-as-usual sprawl-inducing road program.” and went on to say that the Sierra Club would support a revised “…project list that emphasizes transit expansion and improvement.”
