On January 26th, the Johns Creek City Council tabled the City’s proposed sign ordinance to February 9th in order to give staff time to make further changes to sections addressing shopping center signs.
Over a period of several months, a focus group which included CQG staff, drafted changes to the ordinance to make it more business friendly. Proposed changes include: allowing larger standard informational signs (increased sign size from 4 square feet to 16 square feet), new permit application submittal procedures, allowing larger construction signs, exempting construction signs from permit requirements, prohibition of electronic reader board signs, a requirement of a brick or stone base for freestanding signs, and allowing two wall signs per business instead of one.
